Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui addressing stakeholders after receiving two reports.
Process of making Molo and Gilgil towns to become municipalities are at an advanced stage.
Yesterday, Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui received reports recommending the elevation of the two towns from adhoc committees that were working on the issue.
The move comes just three months since the historic elevation of Nakuru to a city. Naivasha town had been upgraded to a Municipality earlier.
The reports on Molo and Gilgil were prepared by two adhoc committees after a series of public participation meetings in the two towns.
While receiving the reports, Kinyanjui revealed that they will be forwarded to the County Assembly for approval.
He noted that Municipal status will increase funding by about Sh200 million to Gilgil and Molo, money thatย will complement urban infrastructure development agenda.
