A 26 years old who is the key suspect linked to gouged of eyes of a three year old baby Sagini to be detained for five Days at Rioma Police station, as the DCI carry out further investigation.

The suspect Alex Ochogo Maina who is one of the suspect of the incident is alleged to have colluded with other suspects who are at large and gouged eyes of a three year old boy .

The bizarre incident took place on 13/12/2022; boy was then dumped in a maize plantation near their home in Ikuruma village in Marani, Kisii County.

The suspect Maina was arrested by DCI on 14/12/2022 and detained at Rioma police station over attempted murder.

The prosecutor Hillary Kaino presented miscellaneous application before Kisii Law Court.

Kaino asked the court to grant them five days to carry out further investigation since the other suspects are at large and for the security purposes of the suspect.

According to Kaino it is alleged that the suspect was last seen with the baby.

He further said that the suspect was spotted escorting his mother who is also a suspect to board a vehicle to Nairobi and she is still at large.

The suspect agreed to be detained at Rioma police station.

The baby is still recuperating at Kisii Eye Hospital.

Doctors at the Kisii Eye Hospital said Sagini will remain blind for the rest of his life.

The facility’s medical director Dan Kiage said they received him on Wednesday evening and had to first clean up his wounds.

Dr Kiage said that though the baby is recovering there is no way he is going to see again, the attackers injured the eyelids and left dirty debris.

Esnahs Nyaramba , chairperson Young Democrat lobby group at Kisii County, condemned the incident and urge the government to impose though measures on those who assault minors.
