Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua and Amb. Nancy Karigithu

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua has reaffirmed the unwavering Government support for the candidature of Ambassador Nancy Karigithu for the position of Secretary General of the international maritime organisation.
Dr. Mutua notes,
“I have the pleasure of reaffirming President William Ruto’s endorsement of the candidature of Amb. Nancy Karigithu as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for the period 2024-2027.
Amb. Karigithu’s candidature has also been reconfirmed and reiterated by the African Union which is a reaffirmation of the trust that the AU has in Amb. Karigithu’s leadership abilities in the pursuit and advancement of the object and purpose of the IMO.
As Kenya’s Special Envoy for Maritime and blue economy and also the Advisor on blue economy in the Executive Office of the President, Amb. Karigithu’s decision-making experiences and steady demeanour will certainly stand the global maritime welfare in good stead.
I wish to restate Kenya’s commitment to the protection and promotion of our shared and common maritime security interests under international law that will allow for optimal exploitation of the blue economy. Amb. Nancy Karigithu’s candidature provides a firm, dependable and experienced safe pair of hands in this regard.
