Five houses have beenΒ Β razed down in a series of incidents related to robberies in Bomagena village, Nyamondo sub-county, South Mugirango, Kisii County,
Three suspects involved in these robberies, have been apprehended by police officers and booked at Etago police station as investigation commences.
According to the local residents, the area has experienced a surge in criminal activities in recent days.
One of the most significant incidents occurred at St. Michael’s School in Omogumo, where the suspects stole various items, including 11 computers, sacks of corn and beans, gas cylinders, galvanized pans, mattresses, and other valuables.
Prior to this, the suspects had targeted three local residents’ homes, robbing them.
The noise generated by the nearby school’s students awakened the local residents, prompting them to conduct a search.
During this search, they discovered some of the stolen items in the suspects’ homes.
Local residents expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the area, which has left them feeling intimidated; however, they have requested additional police reinforcement to address this issue.
Etago OCPD Laban Omol addressingΒ Β the outraged residents has urged them to remain calm, he requestedΒ the locals to give the police an opportunity to investigate the matter thoroughly.
He mentioned that efforts are underway to locate other suspects who may have collaborated in these robberies, as indicated by the arrested individuals.
Omol encouraged local residents to actively contribute to maintaining security in their community by reporting any suspicious activities or individuals.
Those who have lost their belongings have been advised to visit the Etago police station to identify if their recovered items are among those in police custody.
Omol assured the community that the arrested suspects will be arraigned in court to face legal consequences as investigations into the matter continue.
