The Democracy for the Citizens Party leader takes his 2027 campaign to Kikuyu Constituency, promising liberation from an administration he says is on its way out

Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua yesterday told residents of Kikuyu Constituency in Kiambu County that Kenya is 280 days away from a change of government, using back-to-back public engagements in Kamangu, Kerwa, and Zambezi to rally support for what he described as the journey to form the sixth administration.
Gachagua, the former deputy president impeached in October 2024, addressed crowds across the constituency with a message that was equal parts political mobilisation and moral challenge to the current Kenya Kwanza administration. “Using young people to incite violence and satisfy the ego of an administration on its way out has no place in modern Kenya,” he said, drawing sustained applause. “In 280 days to come, we shall be free.”
Speaking at Kerwa, he acknowledged the community’s support directly. “We have heard you loud and clear. Thank you for affirming that you are part and parcel of the journey toward forming the sixth administration,” he said. Kikuyu Constituency, he argued, sits at the forefront of a national movement committed to restoring the rule of law and the dignity of ordinary Kenyans.
