The 7th edition of the Kenya International Industrial Expo, also known as the Kenya Investment and Trade Fair 2024, is set to take place next week at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi.
The event, set for Friday to Sunday next week will gather industry leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from across the globe to explore the latest trends, products, and services driving the regionโs industrial growth.
The expo has earned its place as a premier platform for showcasing industrial innovation, fostering partnerships, and exploring new opportunities in Kenya and the broader East African region.
It has become a crucial event for local businesses looking to connect with international partners and adopt cutting-edge technologies that are vital for the regionโs economic development.
Mr. Gao Wei, Managing Director of Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd., emphasized the expoโs importance in facilitating international trade and investment in East Africa.
โThe Kenya International Industrial Expo has become a vital platform for connecting local businesses with international partners, facilitating knowledge exchange, and promoting the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. As we look to the future, the expo will play a crucial role in supporting East Africaโs journey towards becoming a leading industrial hub on the continent,โ he said.
Organized by Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd in partnership with the Kenya Investment Authority and the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), the three-day event is set to play a pivotal role in Kenyaโs industrialization efforts. The expo aligns with the governmentโs agenda of boosting industrialization for job creation, with this yearโs theme being โDriving Growth in Kenyaโs Manufacturing Sector through Technology.โ
Dr. Eric Rutto, President of the KNCCI, announced that 12 members of the chamber will showcase a wide range of products and services at the expo. These will include crafts, industrial products, electronics, machinery, logistics, and financial services.
He also highlighted the strong trade relationship between Kenya and China, which has been Africaโs largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.
โKNCCI has an overseas branch in Hunan province, China, that has facilitated trade between the two countries, amounting to over KSh300 million in the past ten months. This trade spans various sectors, including leather and crafts, skincare and avocado oil, coffee, specialty tea, and macadamia kernels,โ Dr. Rutto noted.
He added that the expo provides an excellent opportunity for Kenyan companies to establish a presence in the China (Hunan) Free Trade Zone.
Taking place ahead of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China, the expo will also serve as a precursor to important diplomatic and economic engagements between China and Africa.
Florence Benta Were, Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority, assured that the government would provide support to potential investors exploring opportunities in Kenya. โThe government will provide guidance on regulatory requirements, licensing, and investment procedures, helping investors navigate the investment process more smoothly,โ she said.
The 2024 Kenya International Industrial Expo is dedicated to supporting local businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Special initiatives, including discounted exhibition rates and tailored support services, will be in place to encourage the participation of Kenyan companies, enabling them to showcase their products and services on an international stage.
As East Africa continues to pursue industrialization, the Kenya International Industrial Expo 2024 stands as a key driver of innovation, growth, and international collaboration, contributing to the regionโs long-term economic resilience. Stakeholders in the industrial sector are encouraged to participate and seize the opportunities presented by this landmark event.
