The memorial service was held at ACK St Stephen’s Cathedral in Kisumu City. An Anniversary public lecture preceeded the service at the historic Ofafa Memorial Hall where leaders from different parts of the country reflected on his legacy and contributions to the nation.
Apart from the doyen of politics family members, other leaders that graced the ceremony included former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, former Cabinet Minister Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi, Prof. Michael Chege, Prof. Robert Manson, Mzee Gitu Kahengeri, Jael Mbogo ,Dr Olara Otunnu and the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Moses Kuria.
