Worth Noting:
- “I have no supper and money”. I followed it with some laughing emojis to show I was happy or maybe it wasn’t serious, but in real sense I was to sleep angry for the sake of my other gentleman. Anyway am kind of a person, I eat to survive, not to get satisfied. I was okay sleeping without taking supper.
- For like one minute, I never saw her online. As usual, I was waiting her to come back. While waiting, I saw a notifications popping up on my Nokia Co1 Plus. I opened it. It was an mpesa message, QRSTCHXJIK Confirmed you have received ksh 100 from “her”. It brought her name. It was then followed by a normal whatsup message,” Hope umepata”.
There are things that we men found ourselves tied up on them and it seems we can’t release ourselves. We have no reasons as to why we do and don’t do this and that. And if we have reason, it has not been proven.
I heard this story of a lady who had dated her man for a long period. She was expecting her boyfriend to propose but saw no sign. To save time, she decided to do it by herself. As usual, she hired a hotel plus some paparazzi, organised acquaintances and friends. Then did what is always done during proposals. The lady expected to surprise her boyfriend but to her surprise, the guy was not surprised, instead it was embarrassment all over, in front of over forty people adding up to eighty eyes if no one had any eye problem. The man rejected the proposal, saying it was against nature. It was a vice versa. He never expected to be proposed to by a lady.
Among many credit, borrowing money from the other gender is a common ego that us men have developed. Its a belief that has taken deep roots in our minds.
A great friend of mine once requested me to send him some fifty shillings only. And to my surprise, that was the only and exact money I was having in my mpesa. In the house generally. So to save him, I just decided to send him, because I never knew the situation he was. I never wanted him to sleep empty stomach. All that was happening while chatting via watsup to another friend who was slowly becoming my paramour. Or let me just say we were in love, the only thing that was remaining was to confess to each other, something that we were both scarred of doing. No one was ready to kill his or her pride. In the midst of our confabulation, I texted.

I was surprised, I never expected it. My ego rose to 100%.I remember pretending to have used it and after 20 minutes time, I sent back the money. She was upset. Totally mad at me.
“How dare you return the money, am the one who have sent it”
I lacked words to prove and explain my ego and that is how we broke up so to say. If somebody asks me what made me break up with Juline*, then that’s the answer, I returned the money she had sent me. Thank God we chat but not deeply, like we used to. Nowadays it’s just okay, no, fine, poa, thanks and welcome. Texts that men hate.
Now this is my point,I lost such like a nice lady, just because of my ego. I can’t find the reason why I sent the money. I was lucky to receive money from a woman without borrowing. Anyway who does that, she was a God sent angel to me.
One main reason that makes us men to have this mentality of not borrowing money from women is the fear of being revealed,”kuanikwa”.This majorly happens when those in relationships have parted ways. This is the point even mama mbogas and mtoto wa Jirani will know that the lady was the one who provided the money that you purchased it with a WCB hood or Ampex Woofer. She will shout it in the phone.
Anyway how does a man start to borrow. Yes, we borrow although in rare cases, but do it indirectly.
I think it’s high time that us men should step and think outside the manly box. We are in this modernised world. Even women nowadays are the heads of the family. We have exchanged roles.
Am speaking to men who swore never to borrow money from daughters of Jezebel. Go ahead and do it. Meet which will meet you. Now if you can’t, let’s look it in wider and larger dimensions, assume that your boss is a woman, can’t you do it. Of course you will borrow from her. Itβs just one and the same thing, saying that you can’t purchase something from a woman’s shop. That’s being stupid in plethora.
Another thing is that we should stop cultivating around “all women are the same” mentality. Just like I’ve said earlier, some are from heaven. Like the one am having. Some are willing to help while many are investing in you if not saving. A great philosopher once said, if you give out something and expect it in return, you are doing business and not kindness. Yes, many women out there are practicing business on men, not kindness. They send you in exchange of something. Itβs so unfortunate that many men meet them. Never meet the right one, and if you meet her, a Kenyan Man will always heartbreak.
You never know by you just borrowing money from her, that is how maybe you will end up getting intimate. Men, go ahead and do it. Borrow money anytime you feel like. The same way they have got specific contacts of borrowing money, that’s the same way I expect you, man, to have a contact you have saved Mary wa Pesa or Wanjohi with money emojis. When shall we stop to be slaves of our manly prides and egos.
I have seen so many marriages growing and ending up Successful where a woman is the provider. Where maybe a man has been retrenched and have no any other source of income. In the same vein, I have lived to see and hear if marriages breaking just because a man was not ready to use his woman’s money, so he went and used other shortcuts, and as we know, shortcuts are often wrong cuts.
Man, if she proposes, place your finger and shout if possible. If she takes you out, accept it. If you are stuck, pick your phone, dial her number and tell her to assist you with the money. Simple as that. You won’t die. You will now start living as a gentleman not an ordinary man.
Wish you a happy new month, June.
