Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Management Services chairman, Solomon Maina alias Solo yesterday joined faithful at PCEA Gikororo Parish in Mathira constituency for a Sunday service and special celebrations following the retirement of Elder John Matheri Nyagah. Matheri, who has served the parish for nearly two decades, is also a former director of KTDA affiliated Ndima Tea Factory. The colourful event also featured the graduation of 10 Theological Education Extension students and the commissioning of 60 Sunday school teachers where Parish Minister Rev. Ezekiel Kosgei, assisted by Rev. Wilson Maina of Karatina Parish, led the ceremony.

Former National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Chief Executive Officer CPA  Geoffrey Gitau Mwangi yesterday joined christian faithful at Kamara area within Kuresoi North constituency for church service where reiterated his urge to serve the Nakuru County residents in a political environment after the 2027 General Election. Sources said the former CEO is widely expected to contest the cosmopolitan County gubernatorial seat when elections are called.

An operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) officers domiciled at the DCI headquarters led to the apprehension of two notorious drug traffickers, Teresia Nduku a Kenyan and Simba Kitwana Khamri, a Tanzanian national, in Dohnholm Nairobi. Following their capture, the cunning suspects guided detectives to their abode in Manyanzani area in Tala Kangundo Sub-County. During a thorough search of their house, authorities unearthed a backpack with a cunningly concealed compartment housing cannabis sativa, alongside a digital scale and various incriminating documents.

Investigation revealed that this is a unique type of cannabis sativa that originated from foreign lands and infiltrated Kenya via the Namanga border. It was further revealed that the Tanzanian suspect came to Kenya as a maestro in skilful packaging and disguising the illicit drug in backpacks for distribution to consumers worldwide.

According to intelligence reports, the street value of 1 gram of this particular cannabis sativa is KSh8,000.

Road safety oversight agency; The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) says a total of 7,114 road accidents occurred as of August. The numbers shows an increase from the 6,411 accidents recorded during the same period last year. It revealed that the accidents involved 15,651 individuals, resulting in 3,056 fatalities and 12,586 injuries. The increase in accidents has raised concerns about motorists’ compliance with traffic regulations and the need for more effective road safety measures.

Hundreds of political, religious and business leaders as well as faithful from different denominations yesterday converged for held an inter-denominational prayer service for the families and victims of the tragic fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Kieni constituency. The service was held at Nganyuthe PCEA Church grounds which is adjacent to the ill-fated institution. Among the leaders present were Health CS Dr. Deborah Barasa, Energy PS Alex Wachira, Gender PS Ann Wang’ombe, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga,  Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Kiambu Woman Rep. Ann Wamuratha, Laikipia Woman Rep. Jane Kagiri, Nyeri Woman Rep. Rahab Mukami, Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga and Nyeri MP Maina Mathenge. The National Government Administration Officers were led by Ag. Central Regional Commissioner Pius Murugu. Several MCAs led by the host, Gatarakwa Ward’s Eng. Clement Warutere  also attended the service.

 

 

Leader of Majority in the National Assembly and MP for Kikuyu Constituency Kimani Ichung’wa, Tigania West MP Dr John Mutunga and Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri during a Sunday service Nchuraine village. The trio alongside other leaders were in Tigania West constituency where they also took part in support of  Nchuraine Methodist Church of Kenya. Other leaders present included MPs Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Mugambi Ridikiri (Buuri), John Pau (Igembe South) and Moses Kirima of Imenti Central constituency. The leaders said they are committed to supporting the government’s agenda in delivering on the promises made to the citizens.
