Women of childbearing age from Risa in Kajiado South are the greatest beneficiaries of a newly inaugurated health facility courtesy of a Non-Governmental Organisation – Dandelion Africa.

This follows cries and tribulations of women who had been forced to travel more than 80 kilometers to reach a health facility. Most of them eventually could not make it.

Cognizant of that, Dandelion Africa through its founder and Executive Director Wendo Aszed, put up the Health Facility, that has state of the art equipment including hot showers.

Wendo says,

“We started working in Kajiado county (Loitoktok) over 4 years ago providing outreach services offering mainly maternal child health and SRHR services.

Skilled deliveries have increased by 20 percent but the challenge of distance is still there.

To address this; with support from our partners, today we are beyond thrilled to commission our first Hospi-Container Medical Facility that would be offering outpatient and 24 hours maternity services.

Further, we have built additional 5 manyatta Backpack sites surrounding this medical centre.”
