Safaricom Foundation continues To Handover Desks and Chairs to Deserving Institutions across the Country

Yesterday, the team visited schools in Nyeri Town constituency at Hill Farm and Nyakinyua schools. Today, the team will be in Kieni constituency.

Following the opening of schools last week, some private organizations have come in handy to assist various Institutions in realizing their dreams in their bid to make the best out of their learners.
Such firms are like Safaricom Foundation which has in the last few days handed over desks and chairs worth millions of shillings to dozens of institutions across the country.
The Foundation, which is the Safaricom PLC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm has sent teams in various counties to hand over the furniture to institutions that applied to be assisted.
The furniture are coming at a time that most learning institutions, mostly the public schools require them to cater for among other things, in equipping the Junior Secondary schools and replacing the old and unrepairable ones.
The furniture are being handed over by senior Safaricom officials based in various Centres run by the high profit making firm.
They are being provided under Ndoto Zetu program and will see thousands of pupils and students use brand new desks and chairs.
Safaricom Foundation focuses on three key pillars; Health, Education and Economic Empowerment with the sole aim of improving the quality of life among kenyans.
Through these pillars, the Foundation enables the targeted Kenyans access quality healthcare, education, skills and sustainable employment by providing resources, opportunity, hope and dignity to the communities. The current strategy builds on Safaricom strong history of results and partnerships and aims to contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals which are ably covered under the three pillars.
Through the Ndoto Zetu program, various schools have benefitted from this program.
Lack of desks made pupils squeeze on the available makeshift desks that was a hinderance in receiving quality education and also lowered morale amongst the students.
Access to better, quality education means that supportive infrastructure like classrooms should be in place.
This is a major boost to the students as the desks donated will improve student morale and the quality of Education.
