The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) is conducting a monitoring and evaluation exercise to assess the implementation of remuneration and benefits by public institutions in all 47 county governments across the country.
The visits aim to engage county governments’ leadership and monitor adherence to the remuneration and benefits model.
The visits will also provide interpretation and clarification on SRC circulars and advice, and agreement on corrective and remedial measures.
The M&E initiative builds on the Third National Wage Bill Conference Resolutions, which aim to keep the wage-bill-to-revenue ratio at no more than 35% by 2028.
SRC regularly engages public institutions and consistently analyses wage bill data to identify emerging trends.
“SRC recognises that collaborating with stakeholders across the Public Service, therefore, enhances the achievement of its mandate on the management of the public wage bill,” reads the statement in part.
The visits, which are usually meticulous and rigorous, began on Monday and are expected to wrap up on 13th December.
Several concurrent teams are spread across the country for the visits, spearheaded by Commissioners Wangui Muchiri, Sen. Isaac Melly, and Abdiwahab Abdi, as well as Anne Gitau, the SRC Secretary/CEO, and several secretariat staff.
