The government has renewed its pledge to counter the growing wave of misinformation and false propaganda being spread by sections of the opposition.

Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano and Principal Secretary for Public Health Mary Muthoni, said that the spread of misleading claims had caused confusion among citizens and unfairly tarnished ongoing government programmes.

Speaking at Ol Joro Orok Stadium in Nyandarua during a public engagement forum, the  officials said the administration was taking deliberate steps to reconnect with communities and share accurate information about national development projects.

In his remarks, Mwaura said the government was determined to counter what he described as deliberate attempts to mislead the public. He urged Kenyans to seek verified information and remain vigilant against falsehoods circulated through social media and political platforms.

“Some individuals are spreading lies to create unnecessary mistrust between the people and their government. We are here to speak directly to Kenyans so that they can know the facts for themselves,” he said.

On her part, CS Miano echoed the government spokesperson’s  sentiments, noting that misinformation often undermines progress by creating unnecessary divisions. She called for unity and understanding, stressing that the government remains committed to improving the lives of all citizens.

“The President is doing the real work and creating something extraordinary in Kenya. The truth is, results take time. He has been planting seeds in projects that are now beginning to flourish. But here’s the thing about seeds, they grow in the dark first take root underground before anyone sees the bloom,” she remarked.

Among the projects highlighted were the Affordable Housing Programme, rural electrification, and the upgrading of key roads to bitumen standards. The leaders emphasized that these initiatives were designed to create jobs, spur local economies, and improve access to essential services.

“The Government remains keen on taking services closer to the people by creating opportunities for dialogue, feedback, and meaningful engagement. Through the Jamii Imara Mashinani Initiative, citizens are provided with a platform to interact directly with government agencies, access information on available services, and share their priorities on development and service delivery,” stated PS Mary Muthoni.

They urged Kenyans to support ongoing development efforts, adding that meaningful progress could only be achieved through cooperation and constructive dialogue rather than constant criticism.

“The government belongs to all of us. When we work together, every Kenyans benefits through better roads, clean water, and improved living conditions,” added Miano

The public engagement forum is part of a wider government effort to bridge the communication gap with citizens and promote transparency in national development matters.
