The Kenyan education system is supposed to design young men and women to be compatible with different spheres of the job market. Unfortunately there are no ready jobs for the young graduates who come out of universities, colleges and vocational training institutes. Only a few get jobs and mostly those who get jobs have connections with those who employ them. The Kenyan job market is one that is characterized by nepotism and corruption to the extent that someone has to offer a bribe for him/her to be employed. Luckily, there is the new media and the internet which offer an opportunity for the youth to earn a living from.
Netpreneurship is the act of carrying out entrepreneurial activities on the internet. The youth should embrace e-commerce where they can buy and sell their products and services and information via the internet. Netpreneurship is a form of online marketing where one can engage his/her customers online through the use of social media sites and websites. The internet is the future of entrepreneurship globally as many companies are now offering their services online and the youth should not be an exception. The youth should come to the realization that having computer skills is an added advantage because they can put the skills into use by becoming netpreneurs.
Starting an online company requires less capital because you will not need to buy land for building structures or renting office space.
Netpreneurship is a new form of entrepreneurship that is quickly gathering pace, it might be the solution to Kenya’s joblessness.
Let us all engage in entrepreneurial activities that are supported on the internet for there might come a time when businesses that will not be online will be wiped out of the market.
