This year’s World Environment Day was marked yesterday at Tharaka University.
Several dignitaries graced the event with a call to take the environmental matters seriously.
Tharaka-Nithi County Governor Muthomi Njuki who hosted the dignitaries noted, “Plastic pollution is not a distant problem, it’s here with us, in our water, our soil, and the food we consume. If we’re to protect our children’s future, we must act decisively today.”

Among those who graced the event were Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Ms Deborah Barasa, Principal Secretary Ministry of Environment, Climate change and Forestry Dr. Eng. Festus Ngeno, Tharaka Nithi Senator Mwenda Gataya, Tharaka Nithi Women Representative Susan Ngugi, Tharaka University Chancellor Prof Emeritus Ratemo Michieka and Tharaka University VC Prof Peter Muriungi.
