Worth Noting:
- Unmasking Her Success is unique because the author employs writing techniques, which are quite different from the traditional ones. Under each chapter, Rukuni ropes in lyrical poems, which are linked to the success stories of the identified women.
- Here the author used poetry as a technique of inspirational writing which in turn complements the stories of women who are quoted in the book. Her main concern and focus as she moves into the future is to raise funds for women’s projects, dreams and goals, thereby motivating them to succeed.
- She loves poetry and, in her book, she featured few poems to support her message. The same poems have been featured in a book titled “Chronicles from Africa”. Rukuni’s poems are centered on women and young girls.

Rukuni Ruvarashe is the founder of Quote Me — a project dedicated to capture women’s accomplishments with the ultimate objective of inspiring the next generation of young women. Having commenced this project on the 10th of May 2021, its main objective is to lend an ear to women’s success stories which had been buried underneath and present these to the world so that they become a beacon of hope. In 2022 she published her first book titled “Unmasking Her Success”. It is a motivational book and it mainly focuses on narrative stories of women who have achieved their goals and built businesses. The emphasis of uncovering untold stories distinguishes this book because it features stories of ordinary people with extra ordinary capabilities. Many issues have been articulated and brought up in the book, particularly those concerning the girl child and her success as they are future leaders.

One of her favorite poem is titled “The Potter”:
She carefully selects her Clay
Moving her hands softly giving it all her attention
The gift of molding the clay to life
Determined to portray her hidden scars through art
Baked and beautified by the flames
She astonishes every soul by her rainbow nature
How she shines in beautiful twilight, a sign of satisfaction in the potter’s eyes.
In her view, “Success is like pottery in that it begins with selecting a career path and setting up one’s goals. These goals are a constant reminder of what you have set up for yourself and every day you will be trying to live up to those goals. Molding the goals is not an easy pathway, you must never give up. A potter does not give up in her pottery, she keeps on perfecting it until she is gratified with the pottery. In the Potter’s hands, mud can be taken as the struggles which you have to anticipate before starting your vocation. What feels like the end is often the beginning, you should look back from where you came from and decide not to stay at the same place. Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, you must first go through difficult times before you taste triumph”.
Rukuni’s book has featured in The Standard and The Independent. It has also been uploaded on Amazon and can be purchased online. Rukuni runs a Youtube channel called ‘Ruvarashe Rukuni’s Bookshelf’, the channel advertises books from authors across the world. You can also follow her instagram account @QUOTEMEZW.
