Bureti residents in Kericho County have a reason to smile after the County government pumped Sh105Million to Kipkobob water project in Kaminjeiwet, Chemosit Ward.
Chemosot Ward member of County Assembly William Soi (Avocado) has assured area residents that the project which has now 78% of work done using more than Sh 40 Million from 2021-2022 financial year will be completed by May this year.
Soi said that in 2022_2023 financial year budget the County has set aside an additional Sh 70Million to complete the project which was launched by Kericho Governor Paul Kiprono Chepkwony last year.
“I have been on record in lobbying for this Mega project in the County Assembly so that it will put an end to persistent water shortage that has been witnessed for years in Bureti Sub County,” Soi said.
Meanwhile, the MCA squashed allegations sponsored by aspiring leaders from the region, including those retired that the project has stalled, saying that they are working to sabotage the project and doesn’t care about the interest of the people.
“Some people have been paid to bring me down by sabotaging Kipkobob water project; the county government is committed to complete this project to benefit all Buretians. We sometimes have challenges in delivery of materials, but it doesn’t mean the project has stalled,” Soi lamented.
Soi asked people with selfish interests to stop spreading rumours and respect sitting leaders and give them ample time to deliver on their mandate, as well as talk to shareholders of any project In case of any inquiry.
