I wish I could choose another mother
This one I have has made me cry
Yes, she is the reason for my treason
Her innocence is her greatest crime
And she is guilty for being born in streets
And I have to withstand the harsh streets
I wish I could choose another mother
But she is all that I have
She is my everything,
And I have to defend her everything
My mother and grandmother of my children…
If I do not fight for you…
The world will look at you in dismay
From June to May,
And maybe May to June…
If I do not write about you…
The world will look at you in dismay
I wish I could choose another mother
I have seen her pain every day
And I am her present gain
Despite her daily pain…
She’s always put on a smile
The only clothing that she never tore
Despite the weary self and many other atrocities she faced
Her farce made her face wear that smile often
And no one has ever seen us beg
Despite many days on streets
I wish I could choose another mother
But she is all that I have
She is my everything,
And I have to defend her everything
My mother and grandmother of my children…
If I do not fight for you…
The world will look at you in dismay
From June to May,
And maybe May to June…
If I do not write about you…
The world will look at you in dismay
As I pen my last of this poem…
I know many will misinterpret for my mother
The plain reason for her to hurt
But, my mother is my whole heart in human
The only gem I could germinate from
And a fighter of everyday won wars
A spirit of hope in heavy storms
A great mind in a wavy critical situation
And a person to appreciate always
I wish I could choose another mother
But she is all that I have
She is my everything,
And I have to defend her everything
My mother and grandmother of my children…
If I do not fight for you…
The world will look at you in dismay
From June to May,
And maybe May to June…
If I do not write about you…
The world will look at you in dismay
