There are always speculations that there will be violence in every country after elections. African countries are the ones which are most affected by this tread. Many leaders don’t want to accept defeat after elections; the people who are always affected are the citizens or the people who support those leaders.
Many African countries are divided in the basis of ethnic group, race, religion, politics, social economic class and many more. These are just high lights of the things that make the country break into war. The main focus being political principles, people become so angry with each other and hence start fighting with each other, killing each other, destroying property and other harmful things.
Kenya is the recent country to conduct its election as they were choosing a complete new administration after the president Uhuru Kenyatta have served for ten years, which adds up to two terms. The country had two major opponents vying for presidency who had mass following and hence there were no clear predictions who would become president. After seven days the independent electoral and boundaries commission managed to get the winner. The expected reactions always come true, some people celebrate while others mourn for the loss of their trusted candidate.
Despite the results the candidates are highly requested to maintain peace and accept the results as they are. Many religious men and women are asking Kenyans to maintain peace to avoid going back to the 2007 and 2008 election violence which led to many people bleeding being left homeless and becoming refugees. The worst thing that happens is that the politician does not suffer the consequences but the people who suffer are the citizens.
Kenyans let’s remember we are the ones who will suffer instead of those leaders, lets ensure no one suffers because of political opinions.
