What is behind the rejection of presidential results by Four commissioners of IEBC

IEBC having announced that it will release presidential results at 3 pm on Monday, August 16 Kenyans were left glued to tv screens eager to know who was the fifth president. Many had even decided to close their business and arrive at home and see the final results and others scared out of the past experiences of peace disruption.
Kenyans kept on waiting and waiting until some of them made conclusion that the commission wasn’t ready to release the results that day.
But it was a quite a shock at 5pm not far away from Bomas of Kenya that four commissioners had a meeting with the press. In that press briefing lead by Juliana Cherera (Deputy to IEBC chair), Irene Cherop, Justus Abonyo and Francis Wanderi disown the presidential results as opaque casting doubts on the last steps to the declaration of the results.
The deputy chair of the commission promised the press that they would release a comprehensive statement that explain their disowning of the declaration of results as commissioners who we had trust on them during the tallying. They clearly spelled that they had a smooth flow of work until the final process,that their chair decided to do the work on his own.
Today during the press briefing at KICC ground Raila Odinga, Azimio-One Kenya Alliance candidate didn’t concedes with the result of William Ruto as president -elect and announced they would take the constitutional way of rejecting the results instead of his former method of rioting in streets and boycotting.
This steps may further have consequences such as the commission may be directed to conduct a re-run in 90 days that means we will have an election in November and that is expensive to the nation. The school calendar may be disrupted again after COVID-19 pandemic. The nation may be dragged behind despites the high economy that stroke the common mwananchi (famously known as Wanjiku). It up to the final judgment by the Supreme court under Judge Martha Koome. The Azimio-One Kenya Alliance have until Monday next week to file their case.
