The County Government of Nyeri is planning to introduce a new working system for the various medical specialists.
This, the government says, is due to the fact that the number of some medical conditions specialists is few compared to the residents who seek treatment.
The county acting CECM in charge of Health Robert Thuo says the medical officers will be expected to be visiting all the Level IV Health facilities where they will be examining residents with conditions requiring their attention.
This, Thuo revealed, will be done through a clear working schedule that will be made public and all residents sensitised when certain specialists will be working from Health facilities near their homes.
The CEC said the proposed working formula will, among other things, take special treatment services in all parts of the county and also make the specialists more accountable.
Currently, he disclosed that the specialists who are handsomely remunerated are only based at the Nyeri Level V Hospital and patients are forced to travel to Nyeri to seek their services.
In Nyeri County, the other specialists are found at Mwai Kibaki Level VI hospital in Othaya. However, these deals with referral cases from the entire region.
