Selective Publicity, Who Owns The Media?

By: Dr Paula. O. M. Otukile

What does it take to make it in the tabloids?

Why are some writers getting more publicity than others?

Is it because they are excelling more? Or is it because red tapes are set on others?

This is the cry of some writers who hardly get any features on neither local nor international media although they are doing well in their own right.

What must authors do to be equally availed the opportunity to be featured and promoted without any prejudice and sidelining?

Why must an interviewer tailor questions instead of allowing the authors to tell their stories the same way the singers or media influencers do.

Can Africa arise and we for the start support each other, listen to each other without looking at the popularity of the individual.

Pain is seeing promotions of things that cannot build or increase the quality of writing in Africa.

The voice of Africa is important and the virtue of being a writer is to pen down feelings without even feeling that one is being stopped.

We shall continue to write, whether we get publicity or not because we do what we love.
