Meru’s Kirimancuma Residents And AP Training Camp To Benefit From Borehole

Over 2,000 residents of Kirimancuma area of Tigania East Constituency in Meru County will benefit from a Sh6.1 million borehole drilled, equipped and rehabilitated by Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA).
The 180 metres deep borehole is located at the National Police Service School of Leadership and Adventure bordering Nyambene Hills and will also alleviate water shortage for the officers who attend senior officers courses there.
During a handing over ceremony by the agency’s chairman Wanyaga Gathaka to the Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police Dr Masoud Mwinyi on behalf of Deputy Inspector General Mohamed Gabow, the residents thronged a water centre provided just a few metres from the police training centre.

On his part, Mwinyi noted that the borehole will have a multiple effect on both the locals and the disciplined officers as a lot of time has been lost in the past in search of life saving commodity.
“In the past, a lot of resources has been lost in search of water but for the first time officers here can now have hot showers at any given time,” Dr Mwinyi noted.
The Camp’s commandant Julius Mutabari revealed that the local community will be getting water free as they have had a cordial relationship with them.
He further disclosed that plans were underway to have bottled water from the borehole whose proceeds could help in any eventual maintenance and payment of electricity bills.
Earlier, the teams from TWWDA and police service held discussions with the Meru County governor Kawira Mwangaza who pledged to collaborate with the agency to provide constituents with water.
“I am not in the business of useless politics but development and anyone ready to discuss development matters is most welcome to my office at anytime, ” averres the governor.
The local pledged to take care of the water point and ensure that malicious persons will not be allowed anywhere near the water point.
They thanked both the agency and the police for providing them with the precious commodity that has been hitherto a cumbersome errand.
