Soy afric and the Laikipia County Government yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding on how best to address food security in the area.
The event that took place at the County Offices in Nanyuki was the culmination of the countyโs efforts to address the ongoing food crisis caused by the drought that has ravaged several areas in the County, leaving many vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, without adequate food resources.
A school feeding program launched through the collaboration between the county and Soy Afric will now benefit 30,000 ECDE students.
Other areas of collaboration highlighted in the MoU include: a hospital feeding program that provides highly nutritious porridge flour to vulnerable groups of people such as inpatients, people living with HIV, tuberculosis patients, pregnant and lactating mothers, children under the school-going age, and the elderly.
Adoption, marketing, global supply, value addition, and Agro processing of Laikipia County-produced soya beans, maize, sorghum, and millet.
Links to the County Government and local and international partners to support various development projects in areas such as health, education, and water.

Cornelius Muthuri, the founder and Managing Director of Soy Afric led his group.
Others who witnessed event were Deputygovernor ReubenKamuri, several other senior officials as well as David Muriuki, the General Manager, Dr Allan Mugambi, the Head of Sales and Marketing from the Soy Afric group.
