Worth Noting:
- Speaking in Nyeri yesterday, Dr Mathenge said Kenyans were very confused on what awaits them tomorrow with most of them losing hope due to among other things, the high cost of living.
- He said this is the time for the country leadership both those in politics and those in religious formations to act and actualize a national delegates conference where Kenyans will have a free will to propose the best way forward.
A national delegate’s conference should be convened to discuss the economic and political situation in the country.
The conference should incorporate all Kenyans, regardless of their political, religious, economic or social status.
The New Democrats (TND) party national chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge want the forum to be constituted as a matter of urgency so that the country can move forward saying the current situation where the economy is on its knees and being aggrevated by demonstrations will only make things worse.

He said before the national conference is convened, stakeholders from all sectors should have regional forums where the proposals from grassroots will be aired before being forwarded to the national delegates’ conference.
“We are asking the religious leaders from all faiths to take charge of this. Let them lead in convening a national delegates conference where issues affecting the country will be laid bare. Let this forum incorporate all, irrespective of their political, religion or social status since we are all Kenyans,” said Dr Mathenge who was accompanied by among others, political strategist James Kabarita and former Mathira constituency candidate in the last General Election Daniel Kiige.
He at the same time called on leaders surrounding President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga to drop their hard stance over dialogue saying it was the only simple and best alternative in resolving the current crisis facing the country.
Dr Mathenge urged the Azimio La Umoja coalition leader to consider calling off the demonstrations saying they were doing more harm than good to Kenyans.
The demonstrations, Dr Mathenge noted, had led to loss of income to thousands of Kenyans who undertake various business activities and also to employers and employees who are unable to peacefully carry on their work.
“The country goes to a standstill whenever the demonstrations are called. We are loosing a lot and this has led our currency to continue loosing value as others in the region gains,” he lamented.
