President Uhuru Kenyatta announced what was dubbed the messiah of Kenyans who had stopped taking ugali due to the high cost of maize flour on 19 July 2022. State eased maize flour prices to Sh100 until elections. The recommended retail prices for maize flour are as follows; 2kg packet at Sh100, 5kg packet at Sh250 and 10kg packet at Sh490 all-inclusive of VAT in all the supermarkets across the country.
