Politicians raise concern over erection of Billboard and Banners, Ask for security officers’ intervention

Campaign banners and billboards have dominated in Kisii County as Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) continuous to clear political aspirants to hunt for the votes ahead of August 9 polls.
The question is will the banners and billboards remain safe as they continue with campaigns, the questions paused by a section of aspirants.
Kenya Kwanza Team Kisii County have raised concern over the erection of billboards and banners of political opponents in the county and ask for respect for one another.
Speaking in Kisii County, Kisii county Gubernatorial Aspirant Ezekiel Machogu his deputy Ogamba Migosi said that it is an election offence to erect someone’s banner or billboard.
Mr Ogamba said that some of their posts have been pulled down by their opponents terming the act as disrespectful.
Mr Ogamba said that all politicians should be given free and fair playground by not favouring others.
“It is unfair when other’s billboards are pulled down, we have invested much on these billboards and banners,”Ogamba said.
According to IEBC it is an election offence to erect banners or billboards of other politicians.
His sentiments were echoed by Kisii county Aspiring woman representative Teresa Bitutu said that it demoralizes others when their banners are being vandalized.
“Destruction does not count to any votes, let us carry out mature politics, the electorates have aged from such barbaric error, and they are only interested on the agenda.
However, Ms Bitutu cited that the only competition they have is on how to transform the county and bring more resources to the public.
The leaders urged the security officers to take action to whoever will be found culpable and face the law.
They also asked the electorates to vote leaders wisely as they call their opponents to shun divisive politics.
