Norman Mwale [The PenPusher]
Every place, rivers, mountains
And valleys
Used to pass on their
mercuric smiles celestially:
Of rivers,
Running water hissed down
Stream,
Cleansing the demesnes of
Bad omen.
Of Mountains
Echoes of laughter from
The villages,
Mingling life with the natural
World;
Trussing stone to blood!
It was during this full moon
Season of age old time
When nature depicted human
Lives and otherwise,
When a people sang along
Rhyming songs of the
Honey-guide
in the dark promising sky
With their hearts beating
Methodically,
Trailing behind for the fresh
Honey combs,
When the barn swallow
Announced the rain enough
For the presaged harvest,
When the vulture and the
hunter shared unrotted and
Eatable carcass of the wild,
When owls could foretell bad
Omen that may render pain
to the rainbow sky
And all was before falling
Into the snare of defiled
Evolution!
