The first time award winning author on indigenous languages who wrote a Novel in IsiNdebele language has beaten the blues by be the winner on the category of the best indigenous book on the annually called the book behind the awards 2023. The awards was hosted at Pietermaritzburg South Africa in kwaZulu Natal in September the 9th. IsiNdebele is one of the disadvantage language in South Africa when compared to other indigenous languages.
It is the language that has very small readership, books of different genre’s so Ms. Mbonani book surely is adding the value of IsiNdebele catalogue books. Novels are one of the most scares books also in this language. She is really promoting IsiNdebele language by winning the awards and by her new published book is well preserving the isiNdebele language with her rich content in the form of a book.
She is the resilient writer who passionate about telling stories in her own mother tongue. Recently one of her short story was compiled on the book anthology and the book was also nominated on SALA awards 2023. As the upcoming author she is looking forward to explore the book industry and grow in her writing creativity and bring more change and add positive impact on isiNdebele literature.
I have been working with various writer’s, editor’s, scholar’s and author’s in isiNdebele, I hope everyone who claims that they care about IsiNdebele literature and it’s language let us come together in support of IsiNdebele self published and aspirant writer’s to get their books in public and in developing he one’s that lack the Standardized language so that we can all protect and reserve the isiNdebele content. So author’s like LL Mbonani and other, who managed to start and finish such project alone hat is integrity by its own, the elevation has to come from the community leaders and the kings to make sure such content has to be well promoted around the village.
It has been said that there are no books in isiNdebele therefore they needs more books, that has been repeated for the number of years in my writing career where’s there are books with current and relevant content that can add impact to the youth but that books are just ignored.
I would like to see even the municipality on the arts and culture departments to support such writer’s and author’s with integrity because the care for the language and their people. Help such writer’s, celebrate their victory and take a tour to showcase their beautiful talent that will exist even the upcoming hundred years.
Let me give all thanks to the organizers and sponsors of the Book behind the awards and the writer’s who took part to make this honor a success, many author’s got good exposure and well recognition through this initiative. The future is with the writer’s and author’s . The books is life and reading is the key to unlock the hidden knowledge.
