Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has sponsored dozens of pupils who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education last year and now joining Form one.

In Laikipia County, area Deputy Governor Reuben Kamuri oversaw the handing over of cheques and cash to 15 beneficiaries.
Just like in other areas across the country, the students recieved their cheques which will allow them to report to school with fully paid school fees.
Beneficiaries received cheques worth 35,000 shillings each for their secondary school fees. On top of that, each student received 30,000 in cash for their shopping and other basic commodities.
“My advice to you is to ensure that the efforts put by the sponsors and other stakeholders do not go to waste. I know you are hardworking students and you will continue with the same efforts, let your good results be accompanied by good character,” Kamuri told the students during the ceremony in Nanyuki town on Wednesday.
He added, “To the parents, do not abandon your kids, but instead continue with your work of mentorship.”
The KCB team was led by Nanyuki branch manager Olipha Ongeri. Others were his National Bank counterpart Daniel Maguru as well as KCB managers from Rumuruti and Nyahururu.
In Nyeri, Governor Mutahi Kahiga and his deputy David Kinaniri witnessed presentation of cheques and cash to 13 beneficiaries from the county.
Among those who witnessed the event at the governor’s office were the bank’s Nyeri branch manager Ronald Mwambia, his National Bank counterpart Susan Muchangi, Nyeri Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) Clchairman Rev. Cyrus Wachira and Nyeri County officials led by CECM for Education Margaret Macharia.
Apart from the sponsorship, KCB Foundation also provides psycho-social support through mentorship opportunities in High school, apprenticeship, and University / tertiary education levels.
The bank’s scholarship programme targets 1,000 beneficiaries across all 47 counties with 10 per cent of them being those living with disabilities.
Similar events were held in other counties with beneficiaries thanking rhe Bank for coming to their aid.
In President William Ruto’s Uasin Gishu County, 22 needy students secured a four-year scholarship from the bank.
The County Executive Committee Member, Anthony Sitienei, thanked the financial institution for the kind gesture.
In Nyamira County, 14 students benefited from the bank’s generosity.
