The main part: Journalism is the production and distribution of reports on the interaction of events, facts, ideas and people that are the news of the day and that informs society to least degree of accuracy. The word a noun , applies to the occupation professional or not, the methods of gathering information and the organizing literary styles. The appropriate role for journalism varies from country to country as do perceptions of the profession, and the resulting status. In some nations, the news media are controlled by government and are not independent consume news. In others, news media are independent of the government; countries may have differing implementations of laws handling the freedom of speech of the press as well as slander and libel cases. The proliferation of the internet and smartphones has brought significant changes to the media landscape since the turn of the 21 st century. This has created a shift in the consumption of print media channels, as people increasingly through e-readers, smartphones and other personal electronic devices, as opposed to the more traditional formats of newspapers, magazines or television news channels. News organizations are challenged to fully monetize their digital wing as well as improvise on the context in which they publish in print. Newspapers have seen print revenues sink at a faster pace than the rate of growth for digital revenues. Journalistic ethics ans standards comprise principles of ethics and good practice applicable to journalists.
This subset of media ethics and the canons commonly appear in statements by print, broadcast, and online news organizations. There are around 400 codes covering journalistic work around the world. While various codes may differ in the detail of their content and come from different cultural including the principles of truthfulness, accuracy and fact – based communications, independence, objectivity, impartiality, fairness, respect for others and public accountability, as these apply to the gathering, editing and dissemination of newsworthy information to the public.
Conclusion: Like many broader ethical system, the ethics of journalism include the principle of limitation of harm. This may involve enhanced respect for vulnerable. Groups and the withholding of certain details from report, such as the names off minor children, crime
victims names, or information not materially related to the news report where the release of such information might, for examples, harm someons reputation or put them at undue risk.
