The Ruling Party Dismissed The Deputy President’s Ouster And Termed Malala’s Claim As Attention Seeking Without Any Basis

The ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has dismissed former Secretary General Cleophas Malala’s claims on the ouster of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement by the current SG Hassan Omar released on Friday, the claims by Malala about the planned ouster of the DP by senior party officials are to seek attention of sympathy.
“We wish to caution Malala against roping the party and particularly its chairperson and the majority leader in the political shenanigans of unfounded claim of Deputy President’s impeachment and seek his sympathies through any other means,” Omar said.
On Thursday, Malala had claimed the plan to impeach the Gachagua was orchestrated by Embu governor Cecily Mbarire who is also the party’s chairperson and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah.
Defending Mbarire, Omar said the governor is not a Member of Parliament and cannot initiate a motion of impeachment to impeach Gachagua.
He further faulted the former SG for dragging the name of the chairperson in his issues, as the claims are baseless.
“Her Excellency Governor Mbarire, the UDA party chairperson, is not a member of parliament and thus cannot sponsor a motion of impeachment. We find his behaviour unbecoming and inappropriate for a former SG to drag the name and that of the majority leader in such an unfounded claim of the impeachment of the country’s Deputy President and must be asked to stop this rave,” the statement further read in part.
Omar further disclosed that the ouster of Malala was legal and procedurally, a decision that was made collective by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), and ratified by the Registrar of Political Parties.
“Malala was legally and procedurally removed from office as the Secretary General UDA, and the same acknowledged and ratified by the Registrar of Political Parties. Malala’s ouster was a collective decision by the party’s Executive Committee (NEC),” he stated.
He termed Malala’s reign as being filled with melodrama, toxicity and failed leadership.
Malala’s wars started after his attendance to the Mulembe People’s Assembly in Kakamega in July. Advocate Joel Khalende stormed the party’s offices at Hustler Plaza a day after and declared himself the party SG, before he was raffled up with goons.
Mbarire condemned Khalende’s action, restoring Malala before he was replaced by EALA MP Hassan Omar.
However, the party has been in rift for a while with a section allied to Gachagua and President William Ruto throwing political tantrums to each other.
