Businessman and political figure Jimmy Wanjigi has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, holding him directly responsible for the recent spate of illegal abductions and enforced disappearances across Kenya. Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, he expressed solidarity with the families of the victims, condemning the government’s role in what he described as a state-sanctioned strategy to spread terror among citizens.
“The terrifying illegal abductions, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings in Kenya remain a state strategy to spread terror amongst Kenyans.”He asserted
He emphasized that the impact of these crimes extends beyond the victims’ families, casting a pall of fear and insecurity over the entire nation. “Your pain is my pain,” he told the families, calling for collective action to demand truth, accountability, and justice.
The business man accused President Ruto of turning the police force into a “political militia” used to silence dissent and oppress young Kenyans, particularly members of Generation Z. He further criticized the President for violating the Constitution and failing to uphold the oath of office he swore to protect the lives and rights of all Kenyans.
“President Ruto has not only violated the Constitution of Kenya but has also contravened the oath of office he took. He has become a constitutional delinquent.” Wanjigi declared.
He drew stark comparisons between Ruto’s leadership and notorious dictators like Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, and Idi Amin, accusing the President of cruelty, brutality, and dictatorship.
Wanjigi reminded Kenyans of Ruto’s past as a suspect at the International Criminal Court (ICC), suggesting that the President’s current actions are a continuation of a pattern of impunity, calling on Kenyans not to yield to what he described as Ruto’s tyranny and assured the families of the abducted and disappeared that their loved ones would never be forgotten.
“Forgetting them is allowing the perpetrator Ruto to achieve his goal in erasing our loved ones from this earth. By continuing to demand justice, we relive their memory. The abducted, disappeared, or murdered shall live forever .” Wanjigi said
The businessman reaffirmed his commitment and vowed to fight for justice for the victims and their families, declaring them true freedom fighters and heroes of Kenya
