Course selection has been a great problem among students. Many students go through tough time before the get to decide on which course to settle on. Once a student comes out of high school, he or she is faced with a challenging option as to which course of study.
To start with, there are bad advices from parents and teachers. A student may be under pressure to opt for a course like law, science or medicine because the parents view it to be more marketable compared to a course like arts. Students should go for what they want and love. In addition, problem of choosing the same course as your partner or best friend is affecting a number of students. One should consider if he or she will be able to do the hard parts of the course later. Also, one should not base decisions on friendship as you might regret later on.
Wanting a course based on academic prowess thinking you will get it is also a common challenge facing most of the students today. For instance, if in high school you were an ‘A’ student; you can decide to go for a course like medicine. This is because you see as if your points won’t go into waste compared to when you choose an art course. One should choose a course that is best and right for him or her.
Moreover, students rush in making decisions on course selection. When picking out courses, one has to think about which subjects interests you, qualifications needed and studying style which suits you best. The time given may not be enough to pick out the courses and submit them before the deadline date given. Students should try as more as possible to do research and make choices early. Furthermore, picking a profession rather than a passion is also a common issue. Many students are going for careers different from which they love. This makes them to do poorly in their careers as they were influenced to take them.
In the long run, choosing a career has to be the hardest decision anyone can make. Students must look into career that will be able to see themselves doing that job for the rest of their life. A right choice fundamental importance as it can lead to happy, prosperous and satisfying career and life. On the other hand, a wrong selection may result in failure and disappointment. It is better if one decides at the school stage what career one is going to adopt in future.
