There have been various campaigns in the country on various issues. From empowerment of women to youths so as to make sure no one is left behind when it comes to development of the country. For as much as we try to involve everyone, the people living with disabilities have been neglected.
We have seen the government trying to create some space for them in the parliament by making them represented by one or two people but we need to do more. There are few who have been able to come out work with the community but the majority live in hiding and fear.
Many are still discriminated and not given equal opportunities like other people. Some are even hidden by their parents so as not to face the cruel world or ashame them. Their talents, dreams and capabilities are killed. We need to give them an opportunity to show case what they have and know.
Many have talents and skills which some of us do not have. Give them those jobs, places in the government and offices involve them in games and sports, national and international events. Educate them on various issues and teach them how to do things.
Living with disabilities doesn’t mean one cannot be great. As they say disability is not inability.
