Members of Bunge La Mwananchi has issued clarify on what they describe as recent misleading information involving Garissa County officials and the politicization of a security matter. Their statement, sought to address allegations leveled against Senator Abdul Hajj and to promote peace and stability in the county.
In their remarks, the Bunge La Mwananchi members categorically refuted claims that Senator Abdul Hajj was involved in clanism and clashes in Garissa, dismissing them as baseless. They emphasized the need for responsible leadership and cautioned against using sensitive security issues for political gain.
The group dismissed accusations made by the Garissa Woman Representative implicating Senator Hajj in clanism and clashes, noting that the unfortunate loss of six young members of Senator Hajj’s clan in recent inter-clan violence does not implicate the Senator in any wrongdoing.
They highlighted that Senator Hajj has taken commendable steps to prevent further violence, including compensating the bereaved families to foster peace and discourage retaliation, lauding his consistent advocacy for peaceful coexistence among communities in Garissa.
The group further urged the Garissa Woman Representative to issue an apology to Senator Hajj for what they described as baseless accusations, calling on leaders to adhere to the principles of integrity and responsibility enshrined in Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution.
They also suggested that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) summon the Woman Representative to clarify her remarks, cautioning against politicizing the tragedy and urged her to honor the memory of the young lives lost in Garissa.
Their statement emphasized the need for public figures to handle sensitive security matters with care and refrain from exploiting them for political mileage and urged all leaders to prioritize the peace and stability of Garissa County and to work towards fostering harmony among its diverse communities.
Additionally , they expressed hope that their clarification would contribute to a more informed and constructive dialogue on the issues affecting Garissa County, calling upon all stakeholders to unite in promoting peace and understanding.
They ended their statement by saying that it serves as a reminder of the vital role of responsible leadership in safeguarding the well-being of communities and ensuring the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
