The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Meru office, in collaboration with the Kenya Leather Development Council (KLDC), recently engaged leather-focused micro and small enterprises (MSEs) at Marigiti Gakoromone Market in Meru. This initiative aimed to create awareness about the services and opportunities available to these businesses, particularly in footwear production.
The meeting brought together over 100 members of the Meru Leather Works MSE association. The KLDC team, led by Dr. Ahmed Hassan, Director of Quality Assurance, outlined various services to support MSEs, including market linkages, access to shared manufacturing facilities, guidance on personal branding and patenting, and affordable training opportunities.
MSEA Meru also took the opportunity to introduce members to its upcoming NYOTA and KJET programs. These initiatives aim to further empower MSEs by providing them with tools, training, and resources to enhance their competitiveness and innovation. The team emphasized the importance of registering with the Office of the Registrar of MSEs to access these and other initiatives.
This collaboration between MSEA Meru and KLDC is set to provide a significant boost to Meruโs leather industry, empowering local entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and access new markets while enhancing the quality of their products.
