The former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit out to the Kenya Kwanza administration over lack of political goodwill to clear all the coffee debts after promising to allocate KSh4 billion for the same.
Mr. Gachagua has said that during his time in office, he pushed for the allocation of the money to clear all accumulated coffee debts but until now, there is nothing much to show.
The former deputy president was speaking at Kanunga Baptist Church in Mukurweini Constituency in Nyeri County during a church service.
Mr. Gachagua has also asked the government to disburse the coffee cherry fund alleging that only 400M has been released from the 4b allocated by the cabinet.
He has also called on the expansion of the distribution of subsidized fertilizer claiming that the current procedure does not favour coffee farmer who get very little supply of the fertilizer.
Mr. Gachagua also lashed out to President William Ruto of double speak on claims that some leaders are propagating tribal politics saying that Mt. The Kenya region voted president Ruto to a man while he didn’t come from the region.
He has asked the president to respect the decisions of the people from the region and nothing will change the decisions they have made.
He was accompanied by among others, his spouse, Pastor Dorcas, Nyeri County governor Dr Mutahi Kahiga, area MPJohn Kaguchia, area Deputy Governor David Kinaniri, Kajiado North MP, Onesmus Ngogoyo, Nyeri County Speaker James Gichuhi and Members of County Assembly led by Majority Leader James Kanyugo and the host, Mukurweini Central MCA Cyrus Kibiru.
