Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called for the resignation of the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja while implicating him with the ongoing Abductions and saying that the buck stops with him. The former DP has criticised the National Police service for turning a blind eye on Kenyans while parents keep on wailing and crying over the continued holding of the young people abducted without a trace. Gachagua has said that if it was becoming impossible for the Inspector General of Police to protect Kenyans and thier property, therefore he has no business holding his position of the IG and hence was supposed to immediately resign from office. He as well condemned the actions of the police and special unit for holding the government critics in communicado demanding their release unconditionally. The former DP was speaking at Gakoingo Village, Maragua Constituency in Murang’a County during the burial service of the four young souls who lost thier life in a fire inferno at thier home. On the government’s commitment in stopping the Abductions in the country, he faulted President William Ruto for not living to his promise that he would stop the Abductions and release all the abductees unconditionally. He said that the president has not honoured his pledge and until now all the people arrested are still in the detention camps or are even dead and asked the government not to divert the attention of Kenyans through innuendos and give the parents of the abducted young men peace of mind by releasing them. The sentiments were echoed by leaders including Maragua MP Mary Wamaua and Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu. On the direction of Mt. Kenya people will take after the end of this year, the former DP said that he will give the direction very soon and he is continuing with the engagement with different categories of leaders.
