The Pastoralist Community in Lamu especially Mukoe area of Hindu ward has embraced the Nationwide livestock vaccination program that the Government of President has suggested.
According to Dr. Ahmed Hassan of the Kibokoni Cooperative Society, he cited the importance of the exercise saying that it will go a long way in ensuring the livestock of Lamu meet the required threshold so as to be competitive even in the global market…
“Currently our livestock attain 250kg but we would like to upscale them to 400kg and make them very competitive so we are welcoming his Excellency the president to come to come and launch the exercise in Lamu.”
Veterinary vaccines have had, and continue to have, a major role in protecting animal health and public health, reducing animal suffering, enabling efficient production of food animals to feed the burgeoning human population, and greatly reducing the need for antibiotics to treat food and companion animals.
