The degazettement of hardship allowances to teachers has raised unanswered question which has loomed up for them to present a petition to national leaders urging that revoking will demolorized teachers.
Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Kericho branch led by Exercutive Secretary Mary Rotich presented a petition to Kericho Women Representative Beatrice Kemei urging that teachers have a right to receive such allowances depending on the areas they are teaching which are full of challenge.
The petitioned reads that for several years after some of schools in Kericho county were gazetted in hardship category due to poor infrastructure, harsh climatic zone and poor education facilities where hardship allowances were presented caution teachers facing such challenges and many others.
The memorandum also indicated this will lower the performance of schools in the region which may lead to poor performance.
Mrs. Rotich said the National Assembly should summoned the education sector concern over degazettement of various regions on at which criteria used in such matters.
She also added that several efforts to resolve the matter beared no fruits calling upon National leaders to intervene.
The degazettement is set to be effective as from July this year
