I am the best Kirinyaga gubernatorial candidate for Jubilee party – Peter Ndambiri

Kirinyaga County Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri insists he is the best bet for Jubilee party to fly its gubernatorial ticket in the forthcoming General Election.
Ndambiri says plans to offer the ticket to Senator Charles Kibiru will flop due to among other reasons, he comes from an area with minority voters as opposed to him who hails from the most populous constituency.
At the same time, the deputy governor has hit put at professionals in the county over their failure to identify an ideal candidate for Jubilee saying the few who are supporting the current Senator were missing the point.
Ndambiri whose home is Mwea constituency avers that his area has more than 122,000 voters compared to Ndia where Kibiru comes from which has about 66,000 voters as per the 2017 IEBC register.
Jubilee party is early this week expected to announce its flagbearers for various seats across the country.
Since he declared his interest for the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat, Ndambiri has been leaving nothing to chance and has been moving from one constituency to another addressing massive supporters seeking their support ahead of Jubilee party nominations.
A few days ago, he toured his native Mwea constituency where he addressed thousands of his supporters and a resolution dubbed ‘Mwea Declaration’ made.
The locals vowed, through the declaration to support one of their own (Ndambiri) for the county’s top seat.
His supporters who addressed the meeting said they will accept nothing short of free and fair nomination which they disclosed that they were optimistic that the Deputy Governor will win.
In the meetings, they hatched the Mwea Declaration which among other things stated, “No Ndambiri, No Jubilee ”
Ndambiri has been telling the meetings that he was sure of getting the Jubilee ticket as he was the most qualified and popular leader among those who were seeking the party nomination.
Further, he notes, he is the most experienced person to effectively and efficiently handle the county as its chief executive officer, having served as a deputy governor.
“I have the experience and expertise to take Kirinyaga County far in terms of development. I have learnt a lot as a deputy governor and if you give me a chance, I will not let you down,” he says, a message he has been repeating in his meetings and which resonate well with the locals who have vowed to support his bid.
He had been criticising the current governor Ann Waiguru saying she has failed in her mandate and shouldn’t be reelected.
In the Jubilee nominations, Ndambiri is expected to face off with the current Senator Kibiru and former governor Joseph Ndathi.
Others in the race are the current governor Waiguru, Women Representative Wangui Ngirichi, former Mwea MP Peter Gitau and former cabinet minister Martha Karua.
