Fay Mwass - AFRICA
By Faith Wairimu Mwangi
A land of the true sons and daughters of the fertile soil
Making the very best of what they have and of high quality
Grabbing available opportunity for their betterment
Sharing both their happiness and sorrows as a family
Or atleast that was how my motherland used to exist
Now the slogan has changed and evolved
I dare not say l understand
The very people that lived harmoniously can no longer interact
Every man for himself and God for us all
If only a review was offered to serve as a reminder of the past
The once clean air that carried with it peace, now hovers with hatred
The mouth that celebrated even the unknown, now a palace of judgement
Eyes that reflected virtues and well-being, are now a court of negativity
All this so much to handle, l might need a break from the harsh reality
Fathers and mothers are top most in centres of entertainment
What do they expect of those that look up to them and next generation?
Everyone got eyes though none of them is away from being termed blind
I wish the past life of our forefathers would make a replay
Leave alone the advancement in technology, civilization or education
Settle down take a break and you realize we got no morals left
Mostly we blame it on change on daily trends, that we need to counteract
I miss my original homeland the one we all celebrated as MAMA AFRICA
