Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has a new Deputy Director General in charge of Crops.
Dr Alice Warukira Murage took over the docket leadership last Friday during a ceremony that was attended by top KALRO leadership, led by the chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge and Director General, Dr. Eliud Kireger.
The ceremony, held at the institution’s headquarters was prompted by the retirement of Dr. Felistus Makini, who concluded her distinguished tenure upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Murage called on staff to foster collaboration and extend their support as she embarks on this new chapter of leadership.
On his part, Dr Mathenge stressed the importance of staff serving as ambassadors, urging them to be the first to embrace KALRO technologies within their communities.
He also stressed the need for discipline and mutual understanding among colleagues. Additionally, Dr. Mathenge recommended the establishment of a sales and marketing department to promote the organization’s innovations and elevate KALRO’s impact.
