Caucus Of Government Appointees From Mt Kenya Holds 3rd Public Engagement Forum In Embu
Senior government appointees from the mountain region have formed a caucus for championing the interests of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The caucus has drawn a roadmap that will see them traverse the region, highlighting the progress and various initiatives undertaken by President William Ruto since ascending to the highest political office in the country.
So far, the team, working under the auspices of “Jamii Imara Mashinani” with the theme, “Tukutane, Tujadiliane na Tushirikiane”, has held three public engagement meetings in Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Embu counties.
The caucus comprises of Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Chairpersons, Directors, and Chief Executive Officers of State Corporations drawn from Mt Kenya region and its diaspora.
It is headed by Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Ms Mary Muthoni. Other senior officials in the caucus are Kenya Biovax Institute director Harrison Wangoro and Kenya Highway Authority (KeNHA) chairperson Ms Winfrida Ngumi.
On Saturday, the team met at Kangaru near Embu town for the third meeting where they were hosted by area governor Cecily Mbarire.
The team outlined various milestones that the government had made in addressing the needs and aspirations of the citizens.
The team emphasized the need for residents enrolling with SHA so as to get easier and free access to medical attention.
PS Muthoni led her colleagues in the government in urging the area residents all register with SHA saying it was offering far better service than the defunct NHIF.
The leaders also urged the locals in particular and mountain residents in general not to be hoodwinked by cheap political propaganda to concentrate on opposition politics at the cost of development and their wellbeing.
Various government departments and agencies had tagged along experts who had pitched tents where they addressed various concerns raised by the locals.
