Some people still hold on to the notion that high grades or low grades are a determiner for ones future. Gone are those days. True, grades do affect one or two things but they don’t define your life. They do not determine your future.
This why the in the recent past, the government has come up with Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions, where young people are trained to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude needed in the job market. The term TVET refers to the vocational or occupational nature of programmes offered, that prepares learners for specific jobs, a number of employment possibilities and also self-employment.
With this, the government has ensured there is enough infrastructure in all public TVET institutions and are also well equipped with state-of -the-art equipment to compliment this institutions. There no need for panic since the Ministry has also ensured that these institutions have enough trainers across the country.
Students who have recently completed their form four classes are highly encouraged to embrace these institutions. These institutions will enable them to acquire entrepreneurship skills that they can use to start their own business such as hairdressing, catering, building and construction among others.
These TVET institutions are available and accessible to all young people willing to pursue their dreams and careers. They are also funded by the government and they cover part /all the fees for the disadvantaged students.
Students aiming at growing their careers are advised to embrace TVET institutions and gain practical experience. It’s guaranteed that these institutions do produce internationally competitive workforce and also promote a culture of entrepreneurship, incubation and innovations.
