Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Muadavadi yesterday had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Xaver Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg.
He sought Luxembourg’s support to leverage Nairobi’s strategic position as UNEP’s host city to enhance the treaty’s global impact.
Mudavadi highlighted Kenya’s bold leadership in banning plastics and shared how Nairobi’s growing global stature will be showcased further when it co-hosts the Africa–France Summit in May 2026, the first time the summit will be held outside France or a francophone African nation.
They agreed to deepen bilateral ties and encouraged Luxembourg to establish a diplomatic mission in Nairobi to expand engagement between our nations. Prime CS also urged Luxembourg to back Kenya’s push to exit the Financial Action Task Force grey list, outlining the legislative and institutional reforms already undertaken, and noted our upcoming International Monetary Fund Governance Diagnostic Report expected later this year.
