Ruto: Kibaki is greatest president Kenya ever had
Deputy President William Ruto has eulogized the late President Mwai Kibaki and described him as the greatest president Kenya ever had.
“Kibaki was a distinguished public servant that rose up the ranks, and of course the greatest President Kenya ever had. We celebrate his achievements, contributions and his rich and solid legacy,” Ruto said at the Nyayo National Stadium, where Kibaki’s State Funeral service was held on Friday, April 29.
The deputy president said Kibaki put in place a foundation that Uhuru Kenyatta inherited, and hopes that Kenya’s fifth president would continue to honour and protect the legacy.
“He (Kibaki) sowed the seeds and laid the foundation upon which our fourth president built the expansive and elaborate infrastructure we see today in our country,” said Ruto.
Ruto lauded Kibaki for establishing a firm foundation in education and infrastructure development and for being what he termed an architect of the Kenyan economy.
“When the history of Kenya is written, Mwai Kibaki will not fit in paragraphs, he cannot fit in chapters. We need more that that for what he has done for our country,” Ruto said.
“We can stride into the future on the foundation of our forefathers including Mwai Kibaki’s. May his soul rest in peace,” Ruto said.
