All has been well for the few citizens that got into the mask business. They’ve made a living for almost two years, from 18th March 2020.
It was on a Friday, 11th March 2022 that The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe lifted the mandatory wearing of masks in public places during a brief.
The past two years have been hectic ever since the first Covid-19 case was reported early 2020. Every citizen was advised to put on and always carry a face mask to prevent contraction since Covid-19 was airborne. For most people the employed and unemployed got to work, for it was a great business opportunity. The masks could go for up to fifty Kenyan shillings.
Despite the fact that Kenyans had to adapt to the new normal that made them put on face masks, washing hands and avoiding crowded places they also had to endure the brutality by the law enforcers had they broken the curfew regulations. Lives were lost not only through the viral infection but also through the hands of the police.
The number of deaths and people infected has reduced in the recent past forcing the Cabinet Secretary to come to such a decision. It is about time for all Kenyans to continue living normally and embrace all that they learnt in the tough times that affected the better part of the world. Let us be productive and live in harmony as we embrace our old lifestyle. God bless is all.
