In the previous elections, Kenyans have been choosing the running candidate majority in accordance to either tribe or money given during the campaigns but very few actually due to their manifesto offered to the extent that if you ask the people what a certain politician said one out of ten will answer.
This shows that most Kenyans are only interested in the gains they achieve during the campaigns season, not what the elected do during their term in office. This is intern followed by complaints of incompetency and neglect by the people in office on their work while many assume that all politicians are the same with the aim to get rich in office, disregarding the few that are in office actually making an effort for change. Today, the living conditions of the people have skyrocketed to an extent that some commodities are nearing almost double their previous asking price.
These have led to the Kenyans taking to social media with the caption lower food prices. These however have led to an opening to some politicians where some are offering a better price range for the people once they are elected to their desired seats.
According to the previous experiences the norm is once some of these politicians are elected none of their promises come true thus leading to more suffering among the people. Take an example of the infrastructure. Most politicians promise road development, but the roads promised continue to worsen by the day leaving the Kenyan farmer to a disadvantage when they are transporting their farm produce especially during the rainy seasons, this leads to major loses to the farmer.
Qualifications of a good leader should start with competency, hard-working, respectable, and honest among others not ethical group and money distributed during campaigns.
The president Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta in his support to support Hon Raila Odinga in the presidential bid urged Kenyans not to allow tribal issues that have existed from time immemorial to be the course of our downfall and instead embrace peace and unity that in turn will lead us to prosperity, development and a better brighter future. It is often said “one man one vote “in the upcoming general election let that one vote be for peace, unity and prosperity for the nation as Kenya is one.
